With an over 240-year-old tradition of academic excellence, Semmelweis University has not only earned an unsurpassed reputation within Hungary, but is also highly respected abroad.
The University takes a holistic approach to training a broad range of health specialists who are expected to use their knowledge and skills for the benefit of society as a whole, whether in the field of education, research, or health care.
Its six faculties offer over 30 programmes from the undergraduate to the doctoral level in Hungarian, English and/or German. Many of its degrees, including in Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Coaching, Sports Management, Nursing and Midwifery are recognised by the European Union and accepted in many other countries around the world.

The crucial role which the University plays in Hungarian health education is demonstrated by the fact that approximately 80% of Hungary’s physical education instructors, 70% of its dentists, 50% of its pharmacists, 42% of its doctors and 27% of its health care professionals are Semmelweis graduates.
